This accessory from Timbuk2 serves an incredible purpose for me. It is perfect for carrying batteries, making them easily accessible during photo shoots (such as weddings when time is of essence!).

I purchased a Timbuk2 Laptop Messenger bag and I love bag. This slider I purchased as a means to carry my iPhone and plugin my headphones. I have my iPhone in an incase hard case and it fits just fine. My only complaint is that I feel like if I make a sudden turn my headphone jack will break off due to how the case wraps around the phone. Since it's a bit snug for the iPhone 3G. There is a zipper pocket on the slider that I haven't found a use for since you couldn't really put much in there to begin with. Maybe a bus voucher or something but pulling the phone in an out is easy and fast. The zipper wouldn't be so easy. It's nice to not have the phone in my pocket and being able to open up the flap to adjust volume as necessary. I would recommend it for any bag. It could be a bit cheaper for what it is.

I use this daily on my computer bag to hold my 3GS iPhone. It does a fine job of it. There is some room to spare but does the job and the velcro holds strong. My only wish would be the reversal of the velco so the side with hooks was on the front of the pouch instead of the flap. If I didn't have a skin on the phone I am sure it would of been scratched many times by now. The front zipper is purely for show imho, I don't know what you would put in there, perhaps some change? You definitely would not want to mangle your ear buds into it.

The slider case fits snugly around my iPhone and case. So much so that there is little use for the zipper located on the outside of the slider. I was expecting a bit more usable space. But the slider fits nicely on my satchel and adequately protects my phone while providing easy access.

Overall, I'm happy with the slider and glad I purchased it. It gives me easy access to my primary mp3 player as well as basic cards and things like my train pass.
While I would recommend the slider to most, there are two areas in which it could be improved.
Aptly named, the slider goes on your Timbuk2 bag's strap and slides around. This brings me to issue number one: it slides too easily and can't be anchored. I would have liked the ability to anchor it down to one spot if I choose to.
My iPhone 3G fits just about perfectly in the slider, which brings me to issue number two: Unfortunately, it fits a little too perfectly because there is then no room left to plug in a pair of headphones. Even a compact L-shaped plug will protrude too far for the iPhone + plugged-in headphones to fit into the slider. This isn't actually a big issue for me as I use a smaller mp3 player that fits perfectly in the slider with a pair of canalphones, but this is just to serve as a warning for those intending to put an iPhone or iPod Touch in the slider with a pair of headphones plugged in.
Still, the slider as it is is very useful; but it could have been perfect if it were just a little larger and had some sort of ability to anchor.
