This bag arrived on time and was pleasently surprised at how much stuff it could hold. This bag however, is essentially a knock-off of a camelback brand bag. The two bags are almost exactly alike. The first thing I noticed with this bag was that one of the securing straps was not sewed into the bag properly and could not be used with full force. Not thinking that was a big deal, I used the bag anyway. After two weeks of use in Afghanistan, two of the little zipper handles have popped off. These small items indicate to me that this bag was cheaply made and quality control is lacking. In the future, I would recommend that someone just buy the more expensive camelback brand bag, that comes with a water resovoir as well, and not worry about breaking or tearing what is supposed to be a rugged bag.

I purchased this backpack for hiking, trekking and in general recreational/traveling purposes. I have used it several times and I'm quite impressed but its overall quality. I feel that equipment built for military purposes is always more durable, dependable and affordable than equipment built for civil use, you may think differently but this is my personal opinion after 20 years of using both, military and civil equipment and clothing.
Let's begin with the pros.
- Extremely well built, every stitch, straps and stress points are reinforced.
- Lots of external pockets, several that are not visible from the image posted in Amazon on the side and internal pockets to keep everything perfectly organized.
- The backpack is water-friendly and water-proof at the same time. I kept my stuff dry while hiking during a serious rain. The main compartments and pockets they all have grommets for drainage so any internal spill will come out quickly.
- The shoulder straps have a great padding and distribute the weight very nice. The waist belt is also top-quality.
- The backpack is provided with all sorts of attachments for different things. The shoulder traps have D rings and horizontal straps for holding stuff on them such as flashlights, GPS, etc., you can get any standard straps and hook a sleeping bag at the bottom and jackets or other clothes on top.
- The backpack is well-thought for hydration; you can fit on it a 4 liter hydration bladder easily.
- The price for this type of quality is unbeatable.
The only observation I have is this: It is very heavy. All the reinforcements, all the pockets, extra fabric and straps make it heavy. You need to be aware that the backpack alone is probably close to 10 pounds although the Amazon description says only 7. This is not a backpack for a 1 day hike when you try to be as light as possible; it is truly a backpack for 3 or more days of adventure.

I was looking for a Backpack that could serve as an emergency/survival pack that we can grab in case of disaster (after all, we live near an earthquake fault and the next one is expected anytime). This Molle 3 Day Military Assault Pack Backpack is perfect for the job. It is not as heavy as other products that sell at twice or more the price of this one. It is quite well manufactured; a lot of space; nice to handle.
I am filling it up with stuff for emergencies. I really like it. Recommend it!

I ordered this item a week and a half before I took off for some training in the California desert and was pleased to receive it well within the estimated shipping date. For starts, this backpack is very appropriately priced, and it's definitely worth what I paid. At first look I was afraid the workmanship might not hold up to my work conditions, but it has so far held up exceptionally well. The daypack that the military issues us and labels as a 3 day assault pack has about half the holding capacity as this one. My issued day pack can barely hold more than a radio and a notebook and a few pens, but this Maxpedition pack could hold me over for more than a few days. I could comfortably fit a small sleeping back, bivy sack, poncho liner, radio, 2 pairs of socks, Camelbak ( in the provided zipper space directly between the shoulder straps resting against your back), 2 MRE's, rifle cleaning gear, hygiene items and my maps and pens, plus room to spare for whatever other essentials I deemed necessary. The cushioning is not as thick as you might find on name brands like Camelbak, but it was still comfy and breathes well. There is also a molding in the back piece that gives nice support and keeps it well adjusted against my back. The zippers held up, the straps and buckles are intact, abnd the webbing held up. Overall, I'd say with confidence that this is a very durable and impressive piece of gear, comfortabke and spacious enough for me to drop my issued one for this.
