 "Great traveling pack" 2010-04-10
By Travs (Knoxville, TN USA)
I've taken this pack on some multi-mile walks with around 25-30 lbs in it and it seems to hold up great. The day pack is nice bonus since I'm taking it to Europe and won't be stuck with the lame fanny packs that most bags give you. Zippers are also big and solid metal so they will work well for locking up securely. More then enough space for all I need and the price was great. Maybe not as much hip belt padding as some of the highest end packs but it's certainly comfortable to me.

 "Nice pack, BUT..." 2010-03-16
By R. Dean (West Virginia)
This pack has a very practical design, but the first time I used it one of the bottle holder bungys broke, then the other one broke while I was showing it to a friend at home. It may have to go back for a repair.

"Best Pack for the right Adventure" 2009-11-10
By B. Miller (Omaha, NE)
A breath of fresh air! This is what I would describe the MountainSmith Cross Country 3.0

I went on a 4 day excursion into the back country. After packing it almost full between 40-50 lbs which I later altered and reduced the weight it was a surprisingly comfortable amount of weight and it balances well when organized correctly. I really like the outer zipper leading to the main compartment so I don't have to tear open the top or dig from the bottom to the middle. The small daypack is great. I went mountain biking that same weekend and decided to use the small daypack as a Camelbak and just stuck my hydro bladder in along with some snacks and it worked great. One of the days I decided to take off the top compartment along with the day pack and it significantly reduced the weight of the pack. It's very comfortable, but make sure to fit it to your body before going so you don't have to hassle with it while trying to enjoy the great outdoors.

Overall I would rate this pack a 4 1/2 out of 5. The reason I give it just the half is because it is a little heavier than I like but the comfort and the price make up for it all. It is a durable pack and I used every aspect of the pack on a 4 day trip.
