I researched a multitude of 30-35L packs in search of a great pack that was under 3.5 pounds. I found it in the Z 35-R. This pack is not only highly functional with all of the access pockets on the exterior, it is also extremely comfortable. I can get get my solo tent, down sleeping bag, stove, food, water, first aid and emergency kit with extra room for clothes. If you pack this thing correctly you can easily do a 2-4 day trip. It looks really sharp too and the roll top closure is the best I have ever had, very easy to access when you want to really get into the belly of the pack. The suspension system is unbelievably comfortable and you can easily carry 25-30 pounds of gear without any issue. Best pack I have ever owned, top notch!

I recently bought this pack for a long day hike this summer. I tested it out on a 6 mile hike. I loaded it up with 20 to 30 pounds of gear and set off. The pack is way comfortable. I never felt any pressure points on either my shoulders or hips. This is probably due to the full size frame that is has that is also found in full size backpacking packs.
My only complaint is how there are not a lot of pockets. There is the very large main compartment, and two small ones for keys and small things like that. But there is not really good pocket to put a water bottle in. I don't think it will matter that much though, unless you are one of those who like to be very organized while on a trip.
The hipbelt works well, especially the small pockets on the hips. It took a while to figure out how to use the roll top as I have never used one before, but I found a video on Youtube that described it.
I am hoping to use this pack for the next 20 years, and it looks like it will last that long.

If you find yourself wanting an extended day hike size pack with a real generously cut, effective suspension, this one is for you.
I hike in the mountain wilderness so I take plenty of water, food, navigation gear, firstaid kit and enough stuff to make an unplanned overnight stay an adventure not a disaster. This pack carries the load in a most comfortable fashion. The Gregory "Jetstream" suspension is perfect for this weight range. It feels like it's not there.
Cons: They might have spent a few extra cents on the waist belt bucle.
Overall, I am going to have a lot of very good hikes with this pack!
