 "Antics wheeled backpack" 2009-12-04
By J. Ng
This a very large and durable wheeled backpack that makes daily travel easy. The wheels are smooth and strong. The handle is solid and so is the exterior of the backpack. The large size makes it easy to load and unload books and school supplies. It survives rolling up and down stairs, drops out the car door, drops from tables and banging from other backpacks. It has taken a daily punishment of 15-20lbs loads. The bag fits in the backseat and the trunk of my hatch back. It has a side and top handle so lifting it out of the car is very easy.

Overall, a very reliable and durable wheeled backpack.

"Excellent Investment, High Quality Product" 2009-10-24

Purchased this rolling backpack after spending a few hours researching which one would serve my needs best and appeared to be the most durable yet economical. I didn't want to spend $200 for a backpack but I wanted something large and dependable. Well, this backpack definitely fills the bill. I have been using it daily for over a month and I absolutely love it. I have a number of books, notebooks, etc. that I must lug around for nursing school and with this backpack it's a breeze. It has a large storage capacity, very smooth wheels, and I really appreciate the long and adjustable length of the handle. Plus, you cannot beat the price here on Amazon for the brown one (it's attractive and was a little cheaper than the black one) and the lifetime warranty from Jansport sealed the deal for me. This item is my favorite purchase since I started nursing school. It has really saved my back and shoulders and I give it 5 stars.

Handle pulls up easily, lots of space inside, not too heavy if you want to wear it

"Why would anyone design a backpack with a single center shaft?" 2009-10-04
By dgatwood

I really don't understand how anyone could possibly think that this is a good design. I considered buying this backpack and a similar one by Jeep, but quickly realized that it was guaranteed to break almost anything you could possibly carry in it other than clothing because of the single center bar.

To demonstrate the problem, put a pencil against the corner of your kitchen counter. Press on both ends of the pencil. What happens? The pencil breaks. The kitchen counter is acting as a fulcrum, the pencil as a lever with substantial force on both ends. In a similar fashion, when you put a book in this sort of backpack, everything else in the bag is pushing on both sides of that book, but the book is supported only in the center by that single vertical post. Unless you only carry light stuff in the bag, you're almost guaranteed to end up with bent notebooks, books with broken backs, laptops with cracked screens, and so on. It's quite possibly the worst backpack design mistake in the history of backpacks.

If you don't care about the stuff you're carrying, by all means, buy one of these. If what you are carrying has any value at all, do yourself a favor and buy something with a more traditional double handle or wait for the designers to come up with a single handle built into a solid back so that it doesn't turn your cargo into a lever with a heavy weight at both ends. There's not enough crack in the world for this design to make sense.

"JanSport Driver 8 Wheeled Pack" 2009-09-29

I bought this wheeled backpack for my son who always seems to have way too many books to carry from school. So far we are very pleased! He loves the many different zippered areas as well as the ease of the handle. We had purchased a smaller, cheaper wheeled backpack last year and he struggled not only with the lack of space for all his things but he also disliked the way the wheels didn't allow any flexibility....this backpack is a bit pricey (reason for 4 stars and not 5) but I do believe we will more than get our money's worth out of it! We are definately recommending this to anyone who is questioning which wheeled backpack to get!
