"Not so bad once you figure out the kinks..." 2009-09-08
By M. Aguilar
Okay first off let me start by saying I'm a big girl who is working on becoming a skinnier, healthier big girl so let me say that I have a big ol' booty and rolls that I'm learning to work with and hopefully see less of. I am also a very short runner at 5' 4 (1/2)" tall (or short, depending on who you're talking to). I needed a way to keep myself visible, stay hydrated w/o bulk and put away my keys and cell w/o much fuss. I felt this bag would fulfill all the requiremens so I took a look at the reviews and decided on this bag.

I started running w/ this hydration pack on my waist, hanging over the back of my butt. The heavier the bag the more it hit against my behind and the small of my back as well as loosening up. Not comfortable at all. I was always pulling at the belt to keep it stable and it became a bit of a nuisance. Then I figured out that I needed to pull on the second set of shorter straps attached to the bag. That seemed to stabilize it a bit. It seemed to help but not totally fix things. I was not happy with the bag, sloshing around and falling. Finally out of sheer frustration I pulled the bag along the smallest part of my torso, above the rolls and bellow the chest and wallah! Problem solved. Let me state that this did solve the problem but unfortunately makes me look a bit silly. I've had to learn how to position my shirt in such a way that won't emphasize the rolls around the waist and keep me covered. Not the most convenient thing in the world but effective. I don't think another brand would make much of a difference given my anatomy but not the most horrible thing in the world. I expect as I loose weight I won't look quite as silly.

The only thing I really don't like about this bag has to be that I wish it had a clip on piece for the mouth piece. I have to pull on the house between the clip and the base of the bag to keep the mouth piece clean. If there was a clip on decive in the mouth area I can then attach it to my shirt and avoid pulling the hose back and forth.

For what I paid ($20) I really don't think I can complain much about the bag. It serves its purpose.

 "not practical for running...." 2009-05-30

too much bouncing up and down made this bag uncomfortable. i ended up dumping out all the water during my 1/2 marathon. i wanted to carry it by the end of the race. i also couldn't get it to stay tight! which was a huge pain b/c i was contantly pulling at the straps to try and make it tighter. not impressed at all. i actually want my money back if they will take back one that has been used once.

 "An excellent product " 2009-03-10

My wife and I both have one of these FlashFlo hydration packs and have found them to be very handy when you are doing some activity that does not require more hydration capability such as the 100 oz. bladder. We recently took them to Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch state park and found them to be easy to use and of sufficient water to get us by. They also have a storage compartment that is a bit small but will still handle a billfold, keys, etc. Since they buckle around your waist they tend to at least feel lighter than carrying a backpack even without any significant weight in it. I tend to need more water than my wife and am going to still take my backpack with the 100 oz. reservoir just in case we decide to take a longer than usual hike and/or the weather is extremely hot. However, I intend to use the FlashFlo when ever possible. It is a good product that fits a ninche in the hiking/hydration field.

"Great pack for moderate length runs." 2009-03-08
By K. Miller (Middle, TN)
I bought this in March 2008 and found it to be excellent for short to medium length runs (3-8 miles). As other reviews have indicated, the trick is in tigthening the belt, then pulling the side straps to tigthen it down particularly as you sip away.

The storage pocket is excellent for cell phone, gel/GU, and the bright colors are great if you are running in any traffic. I would highly recommend again to anyone - and I'll be getting another one as mine grew "legs" after being set down for a few minutes.

"Love it, love it, love it." 2009-01-06

My husband and I both wear these when we go for longer runs, or pretty much any run in the summertime. I sweat a lot anyway and so when I'm training for a marathon in the summer heat, having plenty of fluid to stay hydrated makes a huge difference in my performance. I almost didn't get this pack because of other reviews complaining about the pack being too bulky when full, but I'm so glad I did. The extra weight and bulk have been no problem as long as the pack is positioned in the right spot on my back (and I'm only 5' 3" tall). Even though a pack with more water is going to be heavier than a pack with less water, I really appreciate having more water for 90 minute plus runs and I just think of it as extra training. The storage pouch in the front is also extremely roomy with plenty of space for multiple gels, keys, phone, etc.
