"Will be perfect for our trip to Disney" 2010-03-20
By Bambi Freeman (Shrewsbury, PA, US)
To be honest with you, I have not used the bottle yet. I purchased it to take with us on our trip to Disney this summer. I thought it would be great to just fill at the water fountain and add drink packets. It will be MUCH cheaper than buying soft drinks in the park. Plus you can just fold it up when you are done, stick it in your pocket and go!

"In hiking weight is everything and these weigh almost nothing!" 2010-02-02
By Gordon H. Ripley (Rindge, NH)
I have been using Platypus water holders for the last 15 years as I hiked the Appalachian Trail, The Long Trail in Vermont and the Colorado Trail. Before that I used Nalgene bottles. The Nalgene bottles weigh 5 oz and the Platypus bottles weigh 1 ounce. Not much of a savings you say? Well, i carry two of the Platypus and when compared with two Nalgenes the difference in weight FOR A LONG DISTANCE HIKER is significant. Further, these Platypus bottles can be folded up, rolled up, etc to stuff into a small space. I really like the feed tube that screws onto these bottles as you will drink more water when that water nipple is right next to your mouth. With the Nalgene you have to get at it somehow from wherever it is stuffed. With the Platypus I NEVER get dehydrated. A note of caution. Once in the past 15 years I got one that had a pin hole in it so ALWAYS check the bottle before depending on it. I took it back and it was replaced with no problem. It used to be that these Platypus bottles were guaranteed for life. I do not know if that is still the case so my advice is to ask if that is important to you. So, for weight and convenience this is the solution that I have been very happy with. I think you will be also.

"Great for ice, but too big" 2009-09-17
By M. Stewart (Port Charlotte, FL)
This is great for ice, but too big to actually drink out of. I recommend using the straw assembly with it. It is too big for my purpose, but would work great as a camel pouch for an avid outdoorsman or athlete. It sweats so it needs insulated to keep things cool/warm. I fill mine half way and freeze it overnight to put in my cooler. When going out with the kids, I freeze it and take it with us instead of buying water.

"Easy to Transport and Great Taste" 2009-06-22
By D. Jansen (Illinois USA)
I've been using mine 4 days a week for about 4 months now. Each night I fill it 1/4 of the way full and then put it into the freezer. In the morning I fill it up another 1/4 of the way and take it to work where I have cold clean water all day long. I'm impressed by its strength and amazed to see it has survived the repeated freezings.

Pros:

Clean taste - no plastic or other imparted tastes.

The size is large enough to hold a lot of water, and the shape is easy to put it into my laptop bag without people noticing.

It's durable, but I don't expect it to last forever. Given the heavy use, and repeated freezings, I'm quite impressed.

Cons:

The mouth uses a heavy wide thread and wont work with caps and spouts from other water bottles.

I haven't found a good way to clean it. The mouth is too small to get a brush in there. Instead I rinse it out and put it in the dishwasher, hoping the heat will clean.

 "Cool!" 2009-05-30
By Ceac (Missouri)
Simple, durable, and very cute. I bought these for my kids to take to their sports activities. The Platy is lightweight and has lasted over a year now. Only drawback: the mouth of the bottle is pretty small, so it's hard to do more than to rinse out the inside.
