The clip is very hard to open. I have to use two hands. A child or older person probably couldn't use it.
The light isn't strong enough to illuminate a whole page of a book.
I found it only useable if I held it. If I clipped it to the book I had to keep swivelling the beam to be able to read the book.
I'd suggest holding out for something better.

My only complaint is my kids won't sleep at night because they are under the covers reading!
