 "Wonderful backpack!" 2010-06-07
By William Hammer (Everywhere, except where you are)
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3BUFVSZM4KZV So, basically, this backpack is really good. Recommended to everyone.

Pros: Easy to figure out, Simple, Well made, Comfortable, Lots of space (but not too big), lightweight but heavy duty, ajustable etc. etc.

Cons: If your extra short, like 5 foot or less, then the "Egro fit ajustable shoulder harness system" doesn't ajust up very far, so it will be against, your head, feel awkward, mess up your hair, whatever. But thats it.

Definitely a wonderful backpack for it's price, or for that matter, any price.

 "Bargain backpack for backpacking" 2010-05-08
By SoCal Triathlete
Bought this pack to travel Europe for 2 months. I will update this review when I complete the trip but for now I will post what I've found from hiking with it fully loaded around town.

First off, this pack is filled with smart features despite the price being so low. For starters, you can cover the shoulder straps with a cover that rolls away under the pack when you're not using it. Ideal because this keeps the straps from getting caught on the airport rollers and you can write all of your info on the built in card on the cover. Next, the versatility of how many ways you can carry it: like a backpack, briefcase, or dufflebag...there are handles and straps everywhere! If you carry it as seen in the picture (day pack zipped on the main pack) you're back is going to hurt with this thing fully loaded. However, if you bring the daypack around to the front, it's sooo much easier and more comfortable to carry. It looks a bit dorky and touristy that way, but if you're between hostels/hotels it's the way to go. Another option is using the larger pack dufflebag style while carrying the daypack on your back...but again, not as comfortable as carrying the daypack on the front. The last cool feature I'll mention is the flaps on the inside of the pack by the zippers. Any would-be pickpocket will have a lot of trouble trying to make a quick grab with these in the way.

A negative about the pack is you have to learn to use the zippers. Like others have said, they get stuck easily. If you hold the flaps back and take things nice and slow it will zip up fine. If you try pulling them as hard and fast as you can you'll be sorry. Another drawback I've read from other reviews is water gets in easily. It would be wise to save the bag the pack originally comes in to cover it in case of rain. I have yet to test this in the rain (I live in sunny California) so I will update and write my experiences when I return from my trip. Another smart idea is to bring along a hefty bag and cram it somewhere in your pack...when rain hits, simply stuff everything inside of it and tie it up inside the pack. Despite the drawbacks, I'm still giving this 5 stars because of the price and the positive things about it.

How I plan on using this pack:

-Clothes will be kept in the main pouch in the compartment closest to my back. This compartment has the ability to be opened from the side like travel luggage which is really convenient.

-The second pouch of the main pack will store all of my shower/hygiene/don't need every day stuff. All valuables will be in the day pack ONLY.

-Day pack will hold my journal, electronics, copies of important papers, and day to day stuff. It will be safely locked with 2 of these locks (one for each compartment):

"Master Lock 4688D TSA Accepted Cable Luggage Lock in Assorted Colors, 1-Pack"

Look this lock up on Amazon. It fits perfectly in the zippers on the pack and aren't a total pain to remove.

-The main pack, free of all valuables and day-to-day items, will be left in lockers or chained to something back in hostels/other accommodations by my bike lock. In the meantime, I can bring the day pack (and Rick Steve's moneybelt) with me everywhere for peace of mind that my things are safe.

That's about all I can think of...as I said earlier, I will update this review when I finish my trip. Wish me luck!

 "Just what I needed!" 2010-04-06
By James C. Abbott (Deerfield,NJ USA)
I recently traveled to London and I wanted something versatile instead of a standard roll around suitcase. There is a lot of room for clothes in this travel pack if you know how to pack. It does get heavy, so don't kid yourself into thinking that just because it is a backpack it will be lighter than a suitcase. The shoe area wasn't useful for me having size 12's, they just don't fit! The day pack was very useful I carried around a netbook and a bunch of miscellaneous gear in it. Be very cognizant that the day pack is hanging out there pretty far when this is all packed so anything heavy in it is going to off balance you and add a lot of unwanted weight. This I learned first hand and it is uncomfortable. For the city and travel in tighter places like buses this pack is a pain because it is pretty big! I would recommend this pack to anyone, especially for the price. I travel for a living and this really is much more versatile than the traditional suitcase. I do wish it had more webbing and tie downs on the sides for lashing down coats and other stuff but you can make do with what it already has. It is built like a rock as well, I cringed a few times thinking I was going to break a zipper but it is really made well! It made it through the abuse of the TSA and the luggage guys so it passes my criteria!

"Seems to be sized for a man" 2009-09-21
By S Pearce (San Francisco)
I like the way this pack unzips like a suit case on the inner portion, it would be nice if the outer portion did the same. The small pocket on the outer bottom is conveinent for easy access, but my size 8 ladies merrels wouldn't both fit in the compartment. I adjusted the shoulder straps to the small & xs position but it never felt very comforatble. The bottom of the pack pushed into my butt. Also, the strap across the chest pushed my boobs down, it needs to be higher for me (or perhaps any woman). It just seems built for a man. It was too big for my two week asia trip, I filled it, and it got pretty heavy. Nothing broke, thank god. The zippers are annoying becuase they are hidden behind a fabric fold, making them hard to straighten & zip. Again, at least they didn't break. Good quality fabric. I did like the way you can completely stow the shoulder & waist straps for air travel bag check.

 "Great backpack for travel!" 2009-01-16

I bought this backpack as a gift for my parents who were taking a vacation in Europe. This was perfect for their numerous train trips - very easy to carry & transport. They like it so much that they even use it for US weekend trips!
