This backpack is very cute, but not very large. It is the perfect size for a two to maybe six year old, but any older (or bigger) and it would look too small on the child. The color is not as bright as the picture. It is more muted but still shiney...if that makes sense. Search for the umbrella that matches and that will give you a better idea of the actual color.
I think this is a lot of fun, but I'ts not for me :) The dinosaurs do not detach, I was under the impression that they did, but that is actually a good thing so kids don't loose them. The upper far right dino is attached to the zipper for the top and the big dino in the middle is an extra pocket. I rated low for educational value because it is only a backpack. I don't know how durable it is yet because it is a Christmas gift. It seems to be durable and is pretty thick for a childs backpack.
All in all, this is a very cute little backpack and it makes a great set with the umbrella.

My son is 2 1/2 and into everything dinosaurs, so this backpack is PERFECT for him both in style and size! We use it for everything, everyday. The bonus is it wipes clean both inside and out! A score for any little budding paleontologist and his/her mommy!
