"You get what you pay for" 2010-06-21

I bought this pack just a couple of weeks before I did a 4 night hike on the AT. The chest strap broke on the 2nd day (could be fixed) and the top pockets zipper broke on the 3rd day. However for 40 bucks it was a good deal and it did its job.

 "Initial Review" 2010-01-27
By D. Randles (Reno, NV USA)
My initial inspection of the Cuscus 60+10. It is fairly easy to spot the cost cutting of the pack and for the cost it is completely worth it. The padding is not the stiffest and seems it may break down more easily than in other higher end packs. Also the stitching is not as good as other packs I have owned or have seen and plan on a little reinforcing to some of the straps. The size is good and was able to hold sleeping bag, clothes for 4 days, water & food for all days (small bear canister) in top compartment and Jetboil cooking system. Small med kit and personal items fit in the top compartment. There is room for a small tent if you sqeezed it in, but my buddy had the tent since I had the food. As to the size I am 6'-2" 240 lbs 36" waist normally XL shirt size and it fits me very well. seemed all of my straps are in the middle setting so could go larger or smaller in size.

It's a good design but not good quality at all. After a two week trip the backpack broke in several places. I guess you get what you pay for.

 "great product great price" 2010-01-05
By Tara Rhodes (Michigan)
I Took this pack out for a winter retreat with my youth group. I did not have a sleeping bag so I packed my blanket, sheets, pillows, extra shoes, extra clothes, hoodies and much more. The pack held all of my things and was very comfortable to wear. The only thing I wish this company had done is add some literature about how to use some of the straps and extra cargo spaces properly for novice hikers. Over all... pack is just as good as the $160.00 packs ive seen and wore.

"for the $, great pack" 2009-12-02
By D. Jones (Franklin, NC USA)
I have been using this pack for about 2 yrs now and have only came across one major defect in my opinion. The pack has been used in a number of different situation, all including down pours of rain for consecutive days. The rain cover was a wonderful feature to have included,it doesn't take much space or add much weight. The pack was easy to get in even in difficult weather. It dries out pretty fast. I do recommend the use of a water proofing spray. The only defect I can really complain about is the sleeping bag compartment zipper. It binds up and bends making it impossible to zip shut after opening. This is a real pain in the @#$%^&. All in all its a great value.

 "Great multi-day backpack" 2009-11-23
By I. Ostrovsky
Plenty of space, good construction, a little on a heavier side, but tolerable.

Used it all summer long on solo multi-day hikes. Was able to fit a small tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, stove, clothes, food for couple weeks, purifier, emergency water, everything else - everything inside!

Let me repeat - got it all inside, that's how big it is.

I'm 5'8", so adjusting it to my height was not a problem.

Wouldn't recommend taking it to technical climbs, though. Too bulky. I was doing 70 degrees descent and ended up pulling the pack behind me - it was simply too dangerous leaving it on.

 "Great pack!" 2009-11-19
By K. Foley
I have the red one and my husband has the blue one. We are both VERY happy with the bags between the price and quality. Neither or us has had a problem with the fit. I am a small 5'2 and he is around 5'10, and neither of us have run into a problem. We have used our bags a handful of time in the last year. Most of the hikes have been in the late winter for 4 or 5 days. There is plenty of space for all of our supplies. Only thing that has broken is one of the many clips on the arm straps. It was not an essential clip, so not concern by it.

We used the rain cover once, and like others have said, its hard to make it fit when you have a sleeping pad or other items hanging on the outside of the bag; but it does an alright job of covering. Its helps to prevent from everything being sopping wet.

The section for the camel bags works great for us. The strap that holds the bag up, and the camel bag has its own area to sit in. However, you really need to take everything out to put it in the bag well.

We feel that for the bag being fairly cheap, the quality for us is good.
