 "Osprey Talon 22" 2008-10-04
By Derek B. Hanel
This is an incredible backpack. Just competed in a 30+ hour race and it held up perfectly. In a couple of weeks I am going to be putting it through another adventure race and i know its going to be great. All the zippers are well crafted and are not made of cheap material. It can take a beating and its a very comfortable fit. The space where you insert the Camelpak into is so much easier to use compared to other packs I have used. What I mean by that is that the pouch is an independent section of the pack, while in other backpacks, where you put the water source, you have to use it for other reasons. A friend of mine using a Solomon, and after seeing my pack in action, he said hes going to be purchasing an Osprey. Also, the size of the pack is perfect. The 22 is just about right for any race. If you are going to be doing a 16 hour race or a 30 hour race, this is perfect. Also, if you are just going to be hiking or on a bike ride around a park, this pack would be great. I cant say enough about this pack. If I were you I would buy it now!

"great belt- swap the bottle" 2009-12-27
By Carol Chesney (Alachua, FL USA)
The belt is great. It has has good additional pockets for wallet, keys cellphone, etc. The cellphone pocket even adjusts to handle different size phones. The fleece lining is super soft. The angle of the bottle holder helps it stay put when running- but it works best when not too full.

I love camelbak bottles, but this one is no good for the job. It is supposed to be a twist to open and close, but it does not work well and it leaks terribly. I use the bottle it came with to drink more water throughout the day and use another camelbak in it for running.

"Great "hands free" way to carry water on a run or hike" 2009-10-27
By MidnightRunner
I purchased this because using my camelbak back pack for runs was way overkill and a hassle, and I don't like carrying a bottle in my hands when I run. I had considered the bladder type belt packs, but for daily use the bottle is much more convenient since it can be thrown in the dishwasher and refilled much easier. This pack was just the ticket for me, and it is pretty comfortable once it is adjusted properly. When I first tried it, it seemed weird that the bottle would be on the left side facing back, but it made sense when I started running - facing back the bottle is not in the way of arms and elbows. The pockets are pretty small, but it does have a cell phone pocket which is very handy for flip phones(though I am not sure if it would fit a larger phone). I can also fit a gps in the larger pocket and some cash or keys in the small one. The only improvements would be if there was a way to allow it to be easily switched to carrying the bottle on the right side, and if it had a slightly larger pocket or a detachable pouch for more stuff. I am thinking of adding an additional pouch which I could remove when I didn't need it.

The bottle I received with mine is very similar to the better bottle, but appears more economically made and uses a softer plastic for the bottle. It does not have the flip up bite valve, but it works almost as well. The bottle does has the straw inside which makes a huge difference over the podium bottle. The 750ml better bottle does fit perfectly so I sometimes use it instead of the included bottle.

 "Great Product" 2009-04-10
By K. Sutton
I researched before buying a hydration pack for running a long time/distance and chose this one. This camelBak has worked great for me. I haven't had any trouble with the belt being too lose or too tight. There are multiple places to tighten or loosen the pack. It carries all that I want it to without feeling bulky or heavy. The bottle is big enough and easy for me to reach around and grasp. This was my first camelBak product and I would buy another one. This is a great product.

 "Not good for running" 2008-09-03
By A. Bennett (Rochester, MI)
I bought this thinking I could wear this on long runs but the belt didn't stay in place. It was either too tight or it moved too much when I ran. It would probably be great for walking or biking. I love the regular Camelbak water bottles but this product didn't work the way I wanted it to.

"Used mine to death (5 years), buying another" 2009-12-03
By HappyOne (Denver, Colorado USA)
I have used this bag for 5 years. I travel nationally 4 or 5 times a year and this bag has REALLY held up. It is PERFECT as a carry on, and for dragging around with me as needed during my travels. I cannot say how AWESOME this bag is. I LOVE being able to zip it together as I am getting to/from/in the airport, and then unzip it when I am getting on the plane so that the backpack stays under the seat in front of me, and the bigger piece goes into the overhead compartment. I I have friends that have purchased it as well based on my use. I never use the full unit as a backpack because its bulky due to the wheels..but...it has WHEELS...why put it on your back?? have really beat this bag up..and it took it all...so now, without question, I am buying another. Buy it..You won't regret it!

 "Absolutely Amazing!" 2009-10-17
By E. Adams (Portland, OR)
Took this on a little over 2 week trip traveling Greece & the islands. I wanted something I could just do carry on for the plane. It is the biggest you can take as a carry on so making sure you pack so the main suitcase does not bulge out is important. As long as you keep the 2 together while going through security at the airport the whole thing will fit through the security scanner & the airline won't care if you have another bag/purse/3rd carry on :) This was perfect, I was able to roll it around if needed or just wear it as a backpack. The smaller backpack is great for during the day when site seeing. This whole pack took some abuse on this trip but it is still holding strong and I will definitely use it again and again.

Totally loved it. Excellent quality; sturdy yet light enough to travel. It does the trick when it comes to have an extra space in your carry on, and the backpack attachable is really roomy.

 "So far so good" 2009-05-12
By A.B. (Salt Lake City, UT)
So far I've only used this once as a carry-on bag, and it was great! I had to be careful to not put too much stuff in the front section otherwise it wouldn't fit into the overhead bin on the plane very well. I haven't tried carrying it on my back yet, but it seems like it would be comfortable and not too cumbersome. It might be slightly heavy for its size, but not too bad. I also like the way it looks; hopefully it won't fall apart on me any time soon!

 "High Sierra Passport" 2009-10-23

This is the perfect traveling companion. In a time when airlines are charging for checked luggage, you can carry this pack on. You don't have to worry about lost luggage or pay someone to carry it for you. This will be my "suitcase" for many years to come.

"Very handy, love this bag!" 2009-10-20
By Khristeena M. Lute
I bought this bag and traveled to France with just this one bag- and it worked perfectly fine. No rips, no tears, comfortable on my back (I'm a 5'4" woman). It does not have the padding to protect a laptop, but there's plenty of room for everything else. Now, it's my preferred bag of choice, even over my "classier" carry-on bags.

 "Rugged and Roomy" 2009-10-19
By Ken Martin (Midway USA)
I purchased one of these and took it as a second bag on our two week trip to Europe this fall. It functioned really well as a large day pack and to carry items I wanted to be able to get my hands on quickly. Overall, I was very pleased with this bag.

On the plus side, the bag is very well constructed and the materials are great. I had no zipper failures or any problems of that kind. The bag is really roomy and held extra clothing, a camera, netbook, books and snacks with room to spare. The zippered cover on back allows the bag to be converted from a backpack to a shoulder bag. The velcro'ed pocket on bottom stows the flap away quick and easy. Nice design!

The hip belt and chest strap provided a comfortable, stable ride. I'm tall (6'3") and the straps were adjustable to fit me fine. The bag includes a large exterior pocket for incidentals that will easily hold a book or kindle. A small top pocket is available for ipods or other small items.

Small complaint: The lack of a laptop pocket. Another exterior pouch would have been handy, but that's not a big deal. Overall, this bag is recommended for travelers on a short trip or as a substantial second bag.

 "Works great!" 2009-09-09
By C. George
I used this for a month trip to switzerland and italy and a 10 day trip to the bahamas using ONLY this backpack. Extremely comfortable on longer walks... and blends in to the crowd very well. I did have one of the internal compression strap connectors (little plastic clip) break on me, because I was way over tightening it. This backpack also meets carryon size for pretty much all airlines. I've never had a problem getting into the overhead bins. I'm planning to buy another one of these for my fiance on a trip to spain/france next year. I do recommend getting a smaller backpack with it... I use rick steves little backpack whenever I need to travel a little lighter and for day trips.

"Not as strong as you would expect" 2009-08-04
By Archana Bali (Fairbanks, Alaska)
Oh I am not happy with it - the stitches came off and the material in front looks so worn out, all this is less than 6 months' of careful use. This looks good and all that jazz, but not a strong bag. There is a lot of space in there, but be careful the bag cant handle a lot of weight.. only for light and easy stuff.
