The suspension on this pack is more comfortable than on many regular daypacks. It even has load lifters (those small straps that run from the pack to the top of the shoulder straps) which most regular daypacks don't. They make a big difference in getting the pack to fit properly. The 1" wide waist strap is not padded but it is comfortable and does it's job well. The pack does not have a framesheet it will not hug your back and support a heavy load as well as a pack with one, but those are not waterproof. The suspension is good for loads up to about 15lbs which covers most daypack situations. At 1500 cubic inches this a nice mid sized pack with room for a jacket, lunch, binoculars, laptop, fleece, and some extra stuff. The stretch webbing on the front is a nice place to stash a bike helmet or a jacket. The pack looks huge but once the top is rolled down to seal it the size is like a regular medium daypack.
I will take off a point for the size and placement of the mesh waterbottle pockets on the sides. They are positioned way too high up on the pack so that when it's closed the pockets end up near the top. They are also a little too short and undersized. A tall one liter water bottle will fit in them but the position and tightness of the pockets makes getting it out almost impossible with the pack on (your hiking partner will come in handy here : ))
All in all a great pack and you don't have to worry about your gear getting wet while paddling or when caught in the rain. If they added a simple plastic framesheet, some padding on the waist belt, and larger water bottle pockets positioned lower on the sides it would be contender for best all around daypack.

I really wanted to like this backpack. On the surface, it seemed perfect for me, as I'm an urban bike commuter in South Florida, where rainstorms can be sudden and intense. However, this bag is HUGE! I will admit, I'm a pretty small girl, just 5'1', but this bag made me feel like I was back in elementary school or something. Way too big and bulky. And because of the way it's manufactured, it hangs off you like a big vinyl sack, very little support for your back, and the waist strap is not padded. Looks like it would be painful if I wore it while carrying my laptop or a couple of books on my bike ride to the coffee shop.
To make matter worse, as soon as I opened the bag, I noticed a huge tear right down the side! I looks like a manufacturers defect to me. In addition, it looked like some of the cheap plastic tabs holding the straps together had already broken, and half were replaced by these very amateurish sewn cloth bands that didn't even fit right. Again, this was right out of the box! Where the heck is the quality control for this manufacturer?
All in all, I was very disappointed. Suffice it to say, I returned this pack the very next day. I will say that the distributor promptly refunded my money, which I appreciated. However, please avoid the manufacturer if you care about quality!
