"Great Pack for the price" 2009-11-16
By Thomas Bloess (Duarte, Ca)
For the price my buddy paid to rent a pack for the week, I got this pack. While it wasn't made of rip-stop nylon and the most cutting edge materials, what do you expect for the price. That being said, it was still heavy duty. Several stream crossing had me jumping up and down back and forth yet the pack held up great. It also stayed put on my back. It has height adjustable shoulder straps which made it very comfortable. Well as comfortable as you can expect with a 30lbs pack on your back. My only complaint would be lack of places to strap thing down to on the outside of the bag. But other than that, for the price I paid for the pack I am extremely happy with it.

"cheap equipment is what it is" 2009-08-25
By Catherine
For just over 50 bucks, delivered, this backpack served the purpose on my recent backcountry adventure. It held together, had enough volume, enough pockets and enough adjustments to do the trick. Compared to the $300 pack I usually carry, there was no contest. However, this was a backup pack for a friend and I was not embarrassed. For moderate use, this pack is a great deal. I'm not sorry I bought it.

 "A Risk you won't regret." 2009-08-18
By J. Payne (Lynchburg Va USA)
I was a little apprehensive about purchasing this pack because of the price as others have stated, but I took a chance on it. Actually, I took 2 chances. I bought one for myself (blue) and one for my friend (red). We backpacked outwest for 2 weeks- Half Dome at Yosemite, the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, the works. The bags held up great with no problems at all. We stuffed them full as well, and never had a problem with ripped or torn seams. This is a large bag- so it may be a bit heavier than some smaller packs, but when you're packing your life on your back the extra room is very much appreciated. The material looks and feels strong- I couldn't find a flimsy place on it. The "stiffness of the zippers" really isn't an issue at all.

"Good Backpack, has a lot of uses." 2009-08-12
By Jeffrey G. Schreffler
Overall, this isn't a bad backpack. I've used it on the trail and as luggage for short trips. But it does have it's problems. First of all, the one velcro tab holding the internal bars in was sewn on backwards. Therefore not ever attaching to the tab inside the bag so the bar is sliding all over. One of the chest straps broke. The chest straps are also too short and I had a hard time adjusting them. The zippers are hard to zip. It has good heavy duty zippers but zips hard. The bag has lots of room for your gear or clothes. Good sturdy bag for the trail. A little bulky and heavy though. But honestly for about $40 a very good value. I hope the problems with my bag are just a rarity. The stitching seem to be carelessly done. My son has a smaller bag and he doesn't have any problems.

 "Seems Good" 2010-02-06

I haven't had a chance to put this pack to overnight use as of yet. Having said that the pack appears to be of a good quality. Double stitching, good material and plenty of room.

 "Given as a gift" 2009-12-28
By Grandma Mc (Pennsylvania)
The item looks very good. The delivery was excellent and the packaging was good. It was given as a gift and will not be used for a couple months. He is a large man 6'2" and probably over 220 lbs. He tried it on and it fit well. He is a boy scout leader and intends to use for camping excursions. It is large capacity and should serve him well.

 "Great for the price!" 2009-11-27
By Capt. Jon (Cape Coral, FL)
As an Assistant Scout Master on a tight budget, I was looking for a good, large backpack at a really good price. After reviewing A LOT of backpacks, I found that Cuscus was generally well recommended and generally well priced. Our Troop is working on their Backpacking Merit Badge and we will be doing 3, 15+ mile, two night hikes and one 50+ mile, 6 night hike in the comming year.

This pack and I (and 11 Scouts) survived our first trip with flying colors. It had plenty of room for all my stuff, (gear, food, water) and was pretty comfortable. It might be a little short on waist belt padding (or I'm a little too heavy on it!). I have no doubt that I'll have enough room for our weeklong trip in June.

The only "cons" I had was that it doesn't come with a rain cover and although there are 3 huge exterior pockets, you can't see in them (no mesh) and there are no chain/loops for hanging anything on the outside.

Overall, I think I got excellent value for my money.

"A gigantic bag at an excellent price" 2009-09-05
By 1000Books (NY,NY)
I had a bag that was closer to 2300ci. After pre-packing, I realized that I wanted a far larger bag for my 10 day trek through China. This completely fit the bill and is a fraction of the price of similar bags. It is well made for the most part. The only thing I had a problem with is the strap that goes across the chest. It is not attached in such a manner that it can be removed(which some people like). As a result, it's easy to lose this piece. Not a really big deal.

As far as convenience of compartments, the main compartment is generally one large bag, though next to the framing, there is a place to put flat items such as books or a lap top. The top compartment is gigantic and is great for items you need quickly.

There are tons of places to hang things. The side compartments are large enough to fit a towel(wet or dry), or shoes.

The bottom compartment is quite large and can fit things that must be separated.

I adore this bag and became a walking advertisement for it through China. It can hold a lot of stuff and you will most likely need to check this bag if using in the U.S. Outside of the US, it's no problem to bring aboard - so long as you do not over pack, it will fit in the overhead compartment. If you know you're going on a large trip, you may want to get the rain bag which usually is great for keeping the water out, but is particularly handy when checking the bag, as it will save you the trouble of securing all of the fasteners (so they don't get caught in the conveyor belt).

Some people have written that they feel this bag is too small if you are taller than a certain size, please be aware that I actually think the opposite is true. If you are too short, you may have a slightly tough time, as the bag is really long. I am 5'6" and had to massively adjust the bag in order to keep it on right. There are actually adjusters that (are not obvious) will allow you to adjust the manner placing of the shoulder straps.

It's an amazing bag for anyone to use while trekking through the wild parts. I can not say enough good things about it. So long as you are fine to check your bag in at the airport, you should definitely feel confident purchasing this bag.

 "Great" 2010-01-17
By Fabricio Farias (Tally, FL)
Honestly I had not real problems with these bags. For their prices its great, especially if youre a beginner hiker best to go with this instead of buying some crazy expensive backpack. The only minor thing that was annoying was the zippers. OOOH GOD worst zippers ever, so annoying and having to deal with annoying zippers in 20 degree weather isnt really exciting. Besides that the backpacks are great. buy it, you wont find a better deal.

 "Major Zipper Design Problem" 2010-01-04

I read the reviews for this pack and thought how bad could the zippers be. I was just too enticed by the cheap price. WARNING! Do not buy this bag. The poor zipper design make this pack nearly impossible to use.

"Too good to be true??? NOPE!" 2009-12-07
By ademm (Georgia, USA)
I bought this backpack for use on a 4 month trip through South America. I was a little nervous given its price, but it held up just fine. The correlation between price and quality is not always what some would have you believe. I know plenty of people with $150+ backpacks that have broken after less strain than I put on this one. It's not indestructible by any means, none of them are so why not save some money? All the zippers, clips, and other pieces seemed to be pretty thick and sturdy. It holds a ton, and the exterior pockets that don't eat up space on the inside are nice as well. Overall, I highly highly recommend this backpack. If you're on the fence like I was because it seems like it might be too cheaply made, fear not! This backpack is a steal!

 "Good but not Great" 2009-11-09
By Robert W. Belknap (Georgia)
The pack is a good pack especially for the price. The zippers are hard to work but I think some silicon will help. The pack does have a lot of room and the sleeping bag compartment held my lighter bag and it would hold my winter bag if necessary. The one problem I had was the straps were too close at the top and dug in into my neck (I have a 17-1/2" neck). Overall, the pack is good if you are doing a few trips a year.

 "Price=awesome" 2009-10-26
By Josh Gray (League City, TX)
After reading the reviews on this backpack I thought this is the pack for me. I was scepticle on the product because of the price but when I recieved it and used it, WOW! Don't pass this deal up! I love it, yes the zippers are somewhat difficult but I found the trick to them and its a minor detail compared to the quality and size of the pack. I use it in all my scout campouts, hiking trips, everything. Works awesome, great pack, absolutely recommend it.
