 "Locker bag" 2009-11-16
By Allen Pointer (Russellville, Arkansas)
The Transpack Locker Backpack has been good so far. The only thing is that my feet are too big, so that means my shoes stretch the limits of the side pockets. Anyone with lass than size 14 shoes should be fine.

Lots of pockets for everything. The inside section is small, so you will only have room for your workout stuff, but then again, that is what it is made for. No space for racquetball racket, but I knew that when I bought it. It stands up on its own, and with all of the pockets is great to sit inside the locker, and just reach in without having to always move it out.

Good bag for the money.

"Roomy, practical and easy to use." 2009-10-31
By A. Martin (West Virginia)
This bag was a bit taller/wider than I expected, which works out just fine. Because the material is very sturdy and sewn well, it is a bit heavy as is, with nothing in it.

The shoulder straps are very comfortable and easy to adjust, plus the carry handle is there to pick it up on the go. It will stand erect when empty, which is a huge convenience. When full, it doesn't fit easily into my locker at the gym. This is not a problem as those items come out and I wear them, then the bag collapses easily and fits just fine into the locker. It fits in both the half-size locker and the tall locker at my gym.

The large center compartment has padding along all the sides/front/back but not the bottom. The zippers are heavy duty. I especially like that the larger pockets and the large main compartment have two zippers, from both sides. The grommet holes for air circulation are nice and also make it easier to collapse, as there is no "balloon effect" keeping it from closing up.

The outside mesh pockets (one zippered, two not) are handy for keys/water bottle.

I think this is great for a gym bag. I will also use it as a daypack because it beats any of the backpack/daypacks I have tried to use. Because it fits so well to my back when worn and it is so well-balanced and because of the design, I know I will find it handy for those walking adventures when I want my hands free, but need to carry extras, like jackets, maps, lunch, etc.

I wear a smaller size shoe (7.5 women) and I can get one pair of sneakers in each side shoe pocket.

I paid $32 delivered from E-Bags. Their service was fast and efficient.

 "perfect gym bag" 2009-08-19
By K. Dittmar (Miami, FL)
The back pack style is perfect for taking into the gym so you can carry your purse and whatever else in your hands too. It's the perfect size for putting in it the locker and storing stuff in all the great compartments. I love that the shoe area is on the sides of the bag and away from the other areas.

"Perfect backpac for everyday gym going" 2009-02-10
By Dan Mindset (Virginia)
I've been using this back pack (black) for a little over a month now. My weekly routine consists of 3-4 studio spinning classes combined with some weight lifting and once a week swimming. The back pack is perfect for me. Pros: 1) My cycling shoes (size 10) fit perfectly in side pockets. 2) Central compartment is large enough to hold my cycling shorts, athletic trunks, a couple of t-shirts, and even running shoes at once. 3) Top side pockets can fit in normal size shampoo and body wash bottles. No need to transfer it to smaller containers. They also hold my swimming goggles. Small side pockets are good for a razor, heart rate monitor, or a club membership card. 4) Top pocket is waterproof, great for iPod and other electronics. It is also large so it fits the pockets and straps that I use for my iPod. 5) I use mash pockets for snacks and water. 6) Backpack easily fits standing up in any locker at LifeTime Fitness Gym. This bag may not fit all stuff that fits in a large duffel bag, but during my weekly workout routine it helps me find everything right when I need it rather than looking for every item in a duffel. So far I love it.

 "This bag is IT!!" 2007-05-06
By Roy de Barros (India)
This bag is tremendous. It's so good I'm buying a second one for myself. The first red/black one is for the gym and the second one blue/black will be for hiking/camping/trekking etc. Let me tell you why it's tremendous. First it's got external pockets for shoes (not like a few others which give you an internal pocket accessible from outside which consumes internal space), it's got plenty of pockets in multiple sizes which allow for storage of swimming trunks, goggles, toiletries, soiled clothes, plus the main compartment for huge variety of clean clothes. On top of all this the unique triangular design allows you to stand it upright when it's not around the shoulder and you dont need to store it in a locker. Upright standing has a smaller footprint and allows for easier withdrawal of items. I've checked out gym bags from every other manufacturer like Nike, Adidas, and some other not so well known makes. None of them match up to this. Highly recommended if you're one of those orderly freaks who likes a 'place for everything and everything in it's place'.

Great bag, but did not rate it a 5 because (1) there is only a single zipper, rather than a double for the "side door" panel,(2)there is no dedicated place for a water bottle.

"Great bag overall, but devil is in the details" 2009-09-24
By GeoGuy (Los Angeles, CA)
I've had this bag for a couple months now, and use it several times a week at the gym. On the whole I think it's a very good bag that delivers what it promises. The positives:

--Slim enough to fit easily in the lockers at 3 different locations I go to, which have pretty standard-sized half-length lockers.

--The interior and most compartments are easily accessible when in the locker, which frees up space on the bench in front of the locker. For me that alone makes the bag worth it because now I don't have to jockey for space to sit or for my stuff when the locker room gets crowded.

--Interior volume is spacious--I can fit my workout shoes, hand towel, shower towel, shorts, shirt, socks, and underwear and still have room left.

--Shoe "compartment" works well; even large shoes easily fit due to the extra pop-out section in the back of the bag.

--The "door" has enough pouches to hold deodorant, shampoo & soap containers, and a couple other items.

--Construction is solid, yet surprisingly light, with lots of venting to help dry out sweaty clothes and keep down odors.

OK, but there are a few negatives, which IMHO could be solved with a few design tweaks:

--Because it is so lightweight the bag easily tips over. Not a problem when it's in the locker, but if you set it on the bench or floor you've got to be careful. This is especially true when the door swings open--it acts to pull the bag over, especially if it's weighted by bottles of shampoo, deodorant, etc.

--The door has a single zipper, which opens from top to bottom along the side of the door. To open the door you have to completely unzip it (over the top, down the side, and under the door). This is my biggest complaint about the bag--it is a hassle to run the zipper along the underside of the door if the bag is in your locker or on the floor. You have to lift up the bag to accomplish the final stretch under the door, which often causes the bag to tip over (see point above). If you set the bag slightly out of the locker to more easily unzip the door, then it tends to tip forward out of the locker as the door opens, due to the lightweight design, potentially spilling your stuff.

--The "wet" compartment at the back of the bag is nice, but my old duffel-style Oggio bag had two wet compartments; one I used for dirty clothes, and the other for my shower sandals. The wet compartment on this bag isn't large enough to fit my shower sandals, nor will they fit in the shoe area along with my workout shoes. So I put the shower sandals in the large "magazine" pouch on the side of the bag--which works well unless you want to actually use it for magazines, etc. Fortunately for me my Kindle fits perfectly in the compartment on the front of the door.

--Because the bag is taller than typical duffels it leaves less room to hang your street/work clothes in the locker, as they'll drape over the bag, especially if you want to hang both a shirt and slacks. (This is of course only an issue with typical half-length lockers. If your gym has full-length lockers you're golden).

The first two issues above could be solved by adding weights to the bottom of the bag (I may try this myself), and by adding a second zipper to the door, so you could leave just the underside unzipped if you prefer. If they made those changes this bag would be nearly perfect. As it is I still think the pros far outweigh the cons, and the bag delivers where it needs to: it keeps my stuff organized & accessible, and makes changing & cleaning up after a workout a bit easier and more efficient.

I like the design and fit. This is my second bag in 10 years only because the first one was stolen. I don't need all the features, bottles, brushes , etc.

There could be a place for storing an ID card for the gym.

Best locker bag around. I've used one for over 20 years and recently bought this one for my wife. We couldn't be happier with the bag.

"fits nicely in standard locker, but not a huge bag" 2009-02-10
By Stephen Smith (Iowa City, Iowa)
I am satisfied with this product. It is sturdy. It fits nicely in a locker. I just wish it were slightly large (taller). But over all, it holds my towel, swimsuit, diving shoes, toiletries and a waterproof compartment for a swimsuit... plus extras, so I use it every day! Just remember, if you want a really big gym bag--one of those huge suckers, like a duffel type bag or giant sports bag, this ain't it. But it's great for conveniently sliding into a small locker.
