First, let me state that I agree with some of the other reviewers that these biners are not necessarily good as key rings. I prefer small key rings or small clip rings (the kind that where intended to hold three ring paper together) for that purpose. The clips on these things have very soft springs.



I bought these to link my Swiss Army Knife (SAK) to my key ring. They are perfect for this purpose. I need to quickly clip my SAK to the ring on my way out the door. At the office, I often detach the SAK and connect it to my belt loop. (I wear jeans most of the time.) Making the SAK more accessible. The soft springs are not a problem for me. Indeed, they are an asset as it makes assessing the SAK even easier. BTW: I've also used a standard biner, but they are fairly large in comparison and need a large ring on the SAK.



Bottom line is I am a happy customer. If you buy this for the right purpose, I don't thing you will be disatisfied.

Connect two leashes together at the handle. Or three leashes.

Secure ex-pens.

Secure zippers on soft crates (depending on size of s-biner ordered)

Hang water pail.

Hang gear bag on chain link fence - keep clean and out of dog reach.

Keep leashes and collars together and organized in gear bag.



I like how easily items slip in and out of the s-biner. Nylon and cotton leashes do not get caught on the catch notch like they do on regular carabiners.

I have long been a big fan of carabiner-style keychains, except for one thing: I didn't like having my keys looped onto the same section that was designed to open and close several times a day to be looped onto a bag, belt loop, etc. Therefore, when I saw these in my local Harbor Freight, I was very excited. It seemed like the best of both worlds: I would have one section of the 'biner that my keys would attach to, and another that I would use to attach to my belt or bag or whatever.



Unfortunately, this worked better in theory. As the other reviewer has noted, the springs on the s-biners are very lightweight, making it exceedingly easy (if not, in fact, inevitable) for the 'biner to come open, dumping your keys (or whatever else) off the device. Presumably, if you're going through the trouble to attach something to your person, this is not the outcome you are looking for.



Admittedly, these do have other uses, for things like camping and tying down loads in trucks and the like. However, if you're looking to use the S-Biner (in any size; I have at least 3 different sizes, and they all suffer from the same flaw), I would recommend looking elsewhere.

I used to use a regular carabiner for holding my keys.



Now I use this. I use a small piece of hose to keep the ends holding the keys closed securely. I had a friend of mine lose a couple of keys and a usb thumb drive because the spring force is not high enough to prevent accidental release.

The design of the S Biner is such that it is difficult to open only one side of the biner. The result is pathetic, when removing the biner form a pack or article of clothing anything on the clip is bound to fall off. This makes the product rather deceptive, it looks good, but has no real use.

These S-biners are GREAT! They fill several needs I've been having. I work in a data center and these S-biners #4 and #5 are great for hooking my tools and laptop bags to the cage/frame instead of laying them on the floor where people could trip or step on them. We have one set of keys to the server cages and I use an S-biner #1 on my badge to hold on to the keys which is great way to know quickly if I have the keys and don't leave the building with them. I keep quite a bit of stuff in my laptop bag and S-binders #1 and #2 are great way to add extra orginization! I do agree with one of the other reviewers in that S-biners are not very good at keeping keys together in my pocket, but then again, I find small carbiners work much better for that.

I am feeling pretty good right now. Why? Because I am about to save hundreds of people the misery of losing their keys, favorite pocket knife, flashlight, thumb drive, etc... I own and have used both the size 1 and 2 "S-biner"s on my keychain and they consistently (I was going to be ironic and say 'reliably') release/drop whatever is attached to them. I carry my keys in my pocket and have repeatedly found, on the ground, my $50 LED flashlight, 8GB USB drive, house keys, etc. I kept switching what I used the S-biner to hold thinking that it must be good for something because it is so cool. I even switched from size 1 to size 2. Finally after having that sick feeling of finding something I needed or that has value or was brand new on the floor about to be left and lost forever I gave up on this product. I give two stars because these actually are very nice, just not useful outside the safety of your home.

I got these S-Biners in several sizes to try them out for different uses. Truth is, I'd never seen this design before I stumbled upon them in Amazon (I don't camp, climb, etc.), and immediately saw how well thought out and potentially useful they could be. One of them, the #3, holds my GPS travel recorder (for photographic geotagging) to my belt loop. The #2 works great for my cell phone carrying case; the #4 for my water bottle. And on and on it goes: the uses for S-Biners seem to be endless. They seem to be well made -- I have them in black and stainless -- and, although the clip mechanism isn't hard, nothing has yet slipped off. These little biners have become an essential part of my kit, and I won't travel without them.

There are endless uses for them and they have held up to lots of use on my dive gear. They have only a few small rust stains in spite of frequent use in sea water. There is no sign of the metal deteriorating or flaking off just a few small brown spots. This is far better than most caribiners that seize up after a few months of use on my dive gear. They open easily which is good for my purposes but others have complained that they come open in pockets so it is something to consider.

This is a neat design & idea, but for something like your keys that you grab with your hands often, it's way to easy to accidently open it and disconnect your keys. I was losing half my keys once every two weeks just by grabbing them. I've gone back to the threaded oval chain connector like shown here (solid and won't accidently come off):

I didn't scan the page hard enough to know they are only 1.5 inches long. In fact the size (in non-Nite-Ize units) is not there, maybe I would have to click tech specs? I'm disappointed they are so small, maybe the price help me assume they're bigger. Also it's pretty difficult to open one clasp without also opening the other clasp at the same time. Seems to defeat the purpose of this "S" design.

They are small and only rated for 5lbs, so don't expect to much from them. I bought two for a total of 6 (two 3 packs) and so far I have been able to put a couple to use. I actually rigged up a paracord lanyard for my Swiss Army knife and used one of these to attach to my belt loop just in case the knife would slip out of my pocket. So for small functions these can be useful.

When I ordered this product, I knew there would be problems turning it off and with battery placement,so I was prepared.



The batteries did arrive upside down and the light worked for a moment before running out of juice.



It was very frustrating because were looking forward to using this on our dog's collar for evening walks in the desert.

Good light, looks nice, but it was a little tricky to get out of test mode - - - had to actually read the instructions on how to turn on a light! And it is a little hard to press.



I would definitely recommend the Spike brand blinking collar over this for night time safety, because you can see it from any angle on the dog, whereas a hanging light is sometimes blocked from view . . .Spike Lighted Dog Collar - Yellow - Medium/Large

Received two of these units and they both turned themselves off after one cycle of the lights. The fix that worked for me on both units was.

1. Pry off top surface

2. Remove batteries being careful to remember which surface of the battery was up

3. Leave batteries out of unit for one minute

4. Replace batteries, but reverse the position (put the previously top battery on the bottom)

5. Make sure you press down for at least 30 sec. to activate the unit



Should work fine after that

This started out as a 4-star rating, but after only two weeks I've come back to edit it. I can't change the star rating, but if I could, it would be one star now. After using this light for only two weeks the light gradually got dimmer and today it died. If this is the battery life you can expect - two new lithium batteries every two weeks! - I would strongly recommend against this light.
