 "Great for my use" 2009-12-26
By Charles Cameron (Terrebonne, OR USA)
When I opened this Christmas present I told my wife "This grill has to have been made in Germany" as they do wonders with machined stainless steel. It is extremely well made and thoughtfully designed. While a bit heavy for some backpackers it suits my adventure motorcycle camping needs perfectly where space consumption is more critical than weight. I especially like the ability to scrape the gunk off the grill members for cleanup. Excellent product. BTW, my wife did not buy this product from Amazon. She got it through Campmor. I mention that as Campmor produces a great and funky catalogue and website and they have a great selection of outdoor gear.

"Easy to Use and Pack" 2009-02-19
By Gary Diana (Terre Haute, IN USA)
This is a very sturdy little grill that, when broken down for packing, fits easily into a day pack or even a large pocket. Along with the Grilliput Firebowl, this is one of the most versatile pieces of camp cooking equipment you can own. I have also used it during natural disasters to be able to cook a nice warm meal.

It is very light weigh and takes up very little room in a back pack. It sets up easily and quickly and is sturdy enough to hold a full pot of water for boiling. The grill, once sprayed with a little bit of oil is very non-stick and you can even grill something that is hard to cook like fish on it easily without it falling apart because it sticks to it.

When the area flooded last summer, I used this and my fire bowl to safely and easily cook nice hot meals during my week plus without power. It sure made all the sadness and worry a lot easier to take with a hot meal in my belly.

Coupled with the Fire Bowl, this is easily recommended to any camper or back packer. In fact, if you just want to have something in the drawer for those emergencies that most folks do not prepare for, buy this one and the fire bowl and just store it and some tinder and matches and rest assured you are ready for cooking when the chips are down. This is a great product.

"The most useful piece of camping gear I own!" 2009-02-19
By Gary Diana (Terre Haute, IN USA)
When you couple this fire bowl with the Grilliput Grill, you have one of the most versatile and easy to pack and use pieces of camping cookware there is on the market. All you have to do is put you fire makings into the expandable bowl and strike a spark, it is a nice, dry and safe place to contain a fire. The empty, collapsed bowl can be used to store your tinder and fire striker or matches. This way you are sure you will have a nice dry, ready source of fire when you get to your destination. UCO has a real winning combination with this product and now that I have one, I have trouble camping without it.

I was even able to use it last summer when my area was struck with floods. Along with the Grilliput Grill, I cooked my food every night and had myself a nice cheery fire to be near as well. It made all the unhappiness of the destructive floods a little easier for me to take. Camp fires have a way of making the world a little nicer, at least for me.

I can easily recommend both this and the Grilliput Grill for both your camping and preparedness needs. The combo is easy to pack and light weight. It is also easy to deploy at the end of the day. Another winner from UCO's Industrial Revolution.

 "easy to pack grill." 2008-06-20
By B. Javandel (Albany, CA United States)
The grill is very compact and easy to pack. Of course, it only accomodates a small amount of food at one time, and it is a little tedious to assemble; but it works very well as an extra grill.

"good supplement to camping barbeque" 2008-06-20
By B. Javandel (Albany, CA United States)
The fire bowl is just the right size for the compact grill and is very easy to include in packing for camping. Of course, it only will accomodate a small amount of food at one time and is good as an "extra" barbeque.

"If you travel a lot, you shouldn't be without it..." 2010-01-10
By K. Maynard
A friend of mine uses this scale and recommended it to me. It is super easy to use and very accurate. The weight has been spot on with airport scales all over the U.S. No more overweight charges or embarrassing moments moving stuff from one bag to another. Well worth the investment!

"Going strong after 18 months of heavy use" 2010-01-06
By James Sperber (San Juan Capistrano, CA United States)
I never paid much attention to baggage weight under the old 70 pound (32kg) limits. However, when the limits were lowered to 50 lbs/23 kgs in 2005, I found that sometimes my bags were a few pounds overweight. One solution has been to pay more attention to the empty weight of a piece of luggage before purchasing it, something I never considered before. The second solution is to weigh your bags accurately before leaving for the airport, and that's where this useful device comes in handy.

Weighing bags in the past was awkward, as one had to lift the bag and stand on a bathroom scale, then weigh oneself again empty-handed and subtract the difference. Not very easy to see the dial with a large duffel bag in one's hands!! Another limitation affected persons of size (say, over 250 lbs) whose combined weight---personal plus baggage---might exceed the capacity of the bathroom scale in use. Even a 100 kg/220 lb man might exceed a scale's capacity if trying to weigh a 70 lb (32 kg) bag, which is still allowed in Business and First Class.

In addition, while bathroom scales were adequate for home use, most people preparing to fly home could not avail themselves of a scale unless they were staying in a private home. Portable mechanical baggage scales were not much better; they still required a second person to glance at the dial as the bag was lifted off the ground.

This device weighs in kilos or pounds. You attach its strap to the baggage handle, lift the bag off the ground, and the scale beeps when it has recorded the weight. Best of all, the weight remains displayed on the scale screen until you clear it, so you can check the result, without a helper, after you've placed the bag back on the floor. I have found the scale to weigh within 0.2 kgs (0.4 lbs) of most airport scales, and have never been penalized at the airport for any bag that met the limits using this scale while packing. The original pair of AAA batteries are still in use 18 months after purchase. On several occasions, I was able to make last minute adjustments by moving items from one bag to another to bring both bags down below 50 lbs/23 kgs, including one such strategic transfer on a train platform in the Frankfurt Airport.

While most US airlines do not weigh cabin bags, as long as one meets dimension limits, the same is not true overseas. Many European airlines restrict the weight, as well as size, of cabin bags. If your itinerary includes connections involving more than one carrier, your checked bags--which usually are checked through to your final destination--need only meet the regulations of the carrier operating the first flight segment. But your cabin bags must meet the regulations of ALL of the carriers involved. This may mean being barred from bringing your cabin bag on board the second or third flight segment of a journey, even though the first carrier had no issues with your bag's weight. By checking the websites of all of your airlines, and using an accurate scale, you can avoid high surcharges.

I was so delighted with the scale's performance that I bought two additional ones for relatives and friends in Europe who fly frequently in Europe on an assortment of airlines. They need to stay current of the rules on the airline websites, but the scale allows them to stay within the allowed limits.

Could never get it to read acurately! It would sometimes beep (read the weight), other times it wouldn't. I pitched it in Bermuda.

 "Good scale but...." 2009-11-18

This is a good portable scale and use regular batteries, my only conplain is the battery cover, it is loose (from the start) so I have to

put a piece of tape to keep it in place.
