 "excellently built pack" 2010-09-14
By Cathos Moore (Lakewood, CO USA)
This pack is extremely well made. I'm impressed with the construction and the warranty that backs it. As this is an extremely lightweight pack, I was surprised at how comfortable it feels and how well the weight distributes against the hipbelt.

"well engineered and thought out" 2010-09-06
By pattygoodguy
This pack is excellent.

I tried on many packs before choosing this style and i chose it based on comfort. With the pack loaded with a sleeping bag on the bottom it stands upright well. The side pockets for water bottles work excellent, it just took me a few tries to learn how to slide my finger in to guide the bottle. The air suspension really makes a huge difference and only the shoulder strap areas, lower back and waist areas were soaked with sweat instead of the entire back.

Overall if you use each compartment and strap how it was engineered you will be amazed as i am with the thought that went in to the design.

=)

 "Atoms 65 Pack" 2010-06-04
By jlawler (Maine)
I bought his pack at L.L. Bean (lifetime warranty guaranteed) and it looks great and fits really comfortably. The lack on sub-compartments in the backpack (dividers in the main compartment) is the only major drawback. FROM EXPERIENCE I CAN TELL YOU NOT CHEAP OUT ON THIS PIECE OF GEAR!!! (Your back and shoulders will pay the price big time.) This backpack is an investment, and in my opinion, a great investment for casual and serious hiker alike.

"Squirels ate my 20yo external pack" 2010-04-14
By mydogsnameisgunsmoke (So California)
So I set out to buy another external. Boy was I out of touch. Many many years ago, I rented an internal before purchasing my external, and thought no way. Well the world of backpacking wasn't waiting around for me. This internal pack brings together the best of both worlds.

1st is getting fabric off my back so I can stop sweating. This pack is out in the forefront with its ventilated system. Not only does it keep me fresh it's more comfortable with more weight equilizing contact (w.o. the sweat).

2nd there is plenty of small storage compartments for your snacks and tools that should be easily accessible.

3rd and finally this pack is well built. I inspected this very closely and was surprised at the quality of the material and how well it was put together. My 6'3" body is in perfect sync with this fine pack.

One last comment. Purchase at REI, same price as Amazon, less 20%. My total cost $208. :)

I took this to the Philippines with me and all in all, no complaints. What I really notice was the lack of sweat on my back. The mesh netting made all the difference in keeping me nice and cool. After 2 weeks, and going thru airport "check-in luggage", the pack came thru it all without a scratch or a tear. I found my gear easy to find with all the extra pockets isolating the different items. My Australian Squashy hat never interfered with the pack.

 "Comfortable but wet" 2010-01-31
By Luciano Aimar (Boston, USA)
The look is very cool. It fits very well on the shoulders. Very light. but...

1. Very bad resistance to water, as soon as it rains everything inside gets wet.

2. It does not have enough pockets. The big front one is very nice but totally useless because too big and totally open. The two on the side are not real pockets but just big straps, where one can carry a water bottle.

3. The way is constructed once it is on the floor it doesn't hold itself up, and this is a big inconvenience when you want to put it down and the ground is wet or muddy.

Overall ... I wish I had not bought it.
