So this backpack is what I believe they call a good idea with bad implementation.



Pros:

It easily holds two large textbooks, a laptop, and a notebook. It is very comfortable and looks pretty stylish.



Cons:

This backpack does not withstand weather. I live in an area that tends to get a lot of wind and rain. The front pouch has no drainage hole, so it works like a rain collector, which then soaks the bottom of the front pocket (this would be what destroyed my calculator). The zippers don't have any flaps over them, so if it is windy and rainy at the same time, everything inside gets pretty wet (this destroyed one of my textbooks).



I love timbuk2's products, and I still love the two messenger bags that I bought from them, especially because they are almost completely water-proof and hold a decent amount of stuff. This is no where near the same quality of product though and I would not recommend it to anyone that commutes on a bike, or any other form of transportation where they are exposed to the elements for more than one minute.



If you live in a place that doesn't suffer lots of wind and rain, then this may be the pack for you since it comfortably carries such a large load, but I personally would look elsewhere.

I work for the railroad in train service and have to be outside 95% of the time 365 days a year. When it rains I need something to keep me dry. I tried the expensive stuff like Carharts rain jackets. I tried the cheap plastic and rubber suits from Farm-N-Fleet. Neither worked very well. Then some of the guys tried these FroggToggs and said they loved them. Very lightweight and absolutely waterproof. I bought a set and found out the same thing. These suits keep you dry and you can hardly tell you're wearing a rain suit. Extremely lightweight fabric. Definitely a great value for the money. You can't go wrong with these things if your goal is to stay dry. Buy a set. You'll probably love them like I did. Cheers!

Small, light, yet large enough to carry a few books, laptop, or bike helmet, this is a perfect daypack as they call it. Seems very well constructed and durable. I would guess that mine will last for years and years.



Other backpacks may accomplish the same basic function but many are unnecessarily larger or heavier. Of course it varies by personal opinion, but this one is not too small and not too big. This is really the perfect backpack for carrying anything you might need for a day.



Probably not suitable for camping or for extended trips.
