The Vertex 2 is a freestanding dome tent and uses a pole system that allows the walls to be more vertical to give you increased headroom when sitting inside the tent. The extra headroom is really nice to have if you end up spending much time inside your tent because of bad weather. We use aircraft alloy aluminum poles that are strong and lightweight. Assembly is really easy with the tent clips that just snap in place over the poles. The polyester fly and nylon floor are urethane coated, with factory sealed seams for maximum weatherproofness. The 2 doors make getting in and out of the tent much easier, especially in the middle of the night when you need to take a quick "break". You also get 2 vestibules (one over each door) that you can use for extra gear storage. The vestibules also serve as automatic guy-out points when the weather gets a little nasty, and since they have been designed to be a little larger than normal you will be able to keep all of your gear out of the rain. The fly buckles to the tent, offering a much more secure attachment when compared to elastic cord. Mesh roof vents increase ventilation and improve star gazing. Mesh storage pockets and a gear loft are included for organizing your stuff. Stakes and guy ropes are included. Base Size = 5' x 7'6". Center Height = 46". Vestibule Depth = 32". Setup is fast and easy. When the weather allows, leaving the rainfly off makes for an amazing night under the stars. Made it through a thunderstorm in Custer State Park and there were no leaks/pooling.

We stayed dry. It rained torrentially for 11 days straight- and not a drop of water got inside the tent. Amazing! On dewy mornings, there was quite a bit of condensation on the bottom walls, but the air circulation through the mesh roof is excellent and the condensation lasts only an hour or so once the sun's up. We left our boots in the vestibule every night, and they were always dry in the morning, even after a gale.



The tent holds up well in strong winds. It was difficult to sleep through gales, though, because the vestibule does flap in very strong winds.



Malaria is a problem in the area we camped in, so I was concerned about the netting and whether mosquitoes could bite through the light fabric. I need not have worried. We used the vestibule as an `air lock'. Not one creepy crawly or mosquito got inside the tent over the course of a month.



I wouldn't call this a four-person tent. It's perfect for an adult and two small kids- I could fit my backpacker's cot, two air mattresses for the kids, and a month's worth of gear inside. You could fit four sleeping bags inside, head to tail like sardines, with no gear, but that's no way to live.



The tent's very easy to set up and take down; it takes 5-10 minutes for an adult, or 10-15 minutes with a ten year old helping you. I like the fly buckles on each corner of the tent, but wish Kelty had included an extra plastic buckle. We lost one the first time we set up the tent, and now have to knot the strap to hold the fly down.



The tent's very light, too- great for backpacking.



It's the best 3-season tent I've ever owned.

I got this tent as a gift, and had never set up a tent before or been camping really at all. So I thought I would have all kinds of trouble seting this up by myself. I gave it a test run in our back yard and it is sooo easy to set up. Which is a huge plus!! It seems to be great quality and very light. If it isnt rainy you can take the rain fly off and half the tent is see through mesh (for this reason there are no windows) so you can literaly sleep under the stars without the bugs bothering you. I am so excited to go on my first camping excursion so I can use this tent!!

I have never set up a tent before, so I choose this tent because of the "one touch set up" and the price was right. I watched the helpful video that another reviewer posted. It took me less then ten minutes from taking the tent out of the box, to finish. The quality of the fabric is as expected. Mid-level quality, I'd say, and perfectly acceptable since I'm not a hardcore camper.



As someone else pointed out, it is not fully 7 feet inside. This is no problem for me, though. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because of the lack of clear instructions. If not for the video it would have taken me much longer to set up, and since this is marketed as an easy set up tent I feel there should be more instructions included. I have not tested it in the rain or wind, but will update once I have. For $45 I'm very happy.

Got this as Christmas present from my mom. Seems to be a very sturdy and convenient tent. Set it up in our living room and my son is always playing in side. The material is waterproof. Will update after using it outside.

This product should be shipped with an instruction video as the ad implies. The written instructions are very vague.

I selected a 7' x 7' tent, because my sleeping bag fits comfortably in them. This is NOT a 7' x 7' tent. The inside dimensions are 6'-6" x 6'-6" and I have to lay at an angle. Adequate for two full size adults.

I'll give it to my grand daughter.
